With the increasing temperatures and snow melt this week I find my mind wandering to thoughts of indoor sports (sacrilege, I know).
In my search I decided to check the progress on the development of a climbing gym here in PG and was pleased to find that OVERhang Climbing Gym is slated for opening in March of 2013!
If you are not familiar with this company please check it out by following the link on the right hand side of this page.
In the meantime, I suppose it is good weather for checking over all my gear and making sure everything is in good working order.

Traverse: One of two ways to stop while skiing.
Tree: The other method.

PUB NIGHT!

Pub Night!!!   Come dressed as your favourite Canadian icon.  Pierre Trudeau, Dudley Do-right, Bob and Doug Mackenzie...... heck, make a suit out of empty Canadian beer boxes (Google Dudley Do-Right... this is pure Canadiana).  Bring a couple extra $'s to bid on some great items in the silent auction.  All proceeds go towards fixing our gear and buying new stuff so that we don't have to continue charging a 5$ fee.
See you November 1st!

Welcome!

UNBC Outdoors Club would like to welcome you to the 2012/13 school year!

This year promises to be a great one.  We have a handful of adventures planned for the season including a trip to Jasper (see below), the OC Tabor Mountain cabin, Silver King Basin in Smithers, winter camping in a quinzhee, and a ski/snowboard trip in the new year.

The trip to Jasper is just around the corner (this coming weekend Sept 28 - 30) so make sure you get your name on the list.  Today is the last day to sign up and fees are 35.00/person but don't miss your chance to go.  This OC weekend trip is always a blast and a great way to connect with people who share your passion for the great outdoors.

The UNBC Outdoors Club has a cache of gear that is available for students to use.  If you would like to borrow some contact Jody at phibbs@unbc.ca but please make sure to give a one or two day "heads up".  In the past this service has been free but this year we have introduced a small fee of 5$/use in order to upgrade, fix and replace some of the equipment so that this service can be available into the future.

Don't forget, our forum is a great way to connect with other students and outdoor enthusiasts!
